Biography
Atkiya Raisa is a Bangladeshi artist, curator, and art educator, based in Toronto. Her approach revolves around viewing art as a process-driven work, intertwining diverse aspects of life, culture, and personal experiences. Themes surrounding her cultural identity often finds their way into her work, where surreal and emotional narratives resonate prominently.
Her recent focus has been on indigo as a color, delving into its historical significance and cultural connotations. This journey has involved creating pigments from indigo leaves, then utilizing these pigments to produce paint, which she subsequently apply in her paintings.
